Cafe Hafa in Tangiers

by Carol on February 26, 2009

Here’s video of a tea place that has fascinated travellers, artists and intelligensia since 1921: Cafe Hafa in Morocco. Stupendous view, incredible location, ubiquitous mint tea.

Now that was interesting. I wonder do they only serve mint tea.
Hm. I don’t enjoy that in my tea, but the cafe looks to be situated in a wonderful and unique location. Would love to visit.

French right?

Yes, this place looks fabulous indeed. A must-see for all tourists. Even on a darker day, when this video was shot, it has that mystique of the sea. I imagine there is also coffee and other drinks, with the mint tea as the mainstay.

Paul Bowles’ favorite cafe in Tangier was indeed the Cafe Hafa, however, Bowles died in Tangier, not in Marrakech. See: http://www.paulbowles.org, The Authorized Paul Bowles Web Site
